And that's a wrap for all my #Pride antics for 2024, with the amazing #WE campaign from Sky Creative !!Brighton Pride was my last stop on the crazy few months of celebrating, advocating, sharing, and raising awareness during the insanely busy #Pridemonth.It's been a pleasure to share this time with the awesome people in the #LGBTQ Network! Pride isn't just a month or so a year, it's all year and let's be honest, there is still so much to do in terms of ensuring equality and equity is out there for people in the LGBTQ Community! We need more allies, more people to listen, and more people to understand that the hate and persecution is still out there and we need support.The past few weeks have highlighted mass outrage, misinformation and hateful place certain people are in, which is getting out of hand, not just for LGBTQ people, but for plenty of other minorities and/or people who don't fit a certain mould.As for me, I will always listen and reflect, look to advocate and support whilst raising awareness on plenty of issues, but I am not the expert on everything and will always look to learn (and relearn) myself as I go.Anyway, thanks for the memories from this Pride campaign. Another achievement unlocked! In this strange, unfiltered and exhausting (yet euphoric) journey into my own authenticity has hot another mile stone.Now, getting a passport is a very mundane thing in everyday life usually, but for any trans person out there, it is another step into being able to be seen as their true self. It is part validation, but also part self-assessment in your transitional journey.I finally have a passport that legally states my name and gender(!) - even though it states sex, I mean I have had these discussions before and it does prove that all this talk about policing certain "same sex spaces" become less about the safety of said sex but more an ability to prevent and gatekeep a small minority of people....anyway....I have a passport that I can be proud to show at any point in my life, irrespective to how miserable I look in the photo! I have attached two photos of me looking happy and also a time hop pic for measure.For anyone who isn't aware, changing your passport to reflect your gender is not simple, it still involves plenty of documents and even a written and signed letter from your GP who states they are happy with your gender identity, which as we know is quite difficult in this current climate as certain GPs are not able to support everyone.So, today I acknowledge my next steps whilst also taking into account the levels of ignorance and misguidedness still out there.#IDontKnowHowToBeTrans ##thisiswhattranslookslike #transisbeautiful #thisisme #nextsteps

#IDontKnowHowToBeTrans - A recent post on some of my troubles in understanding how to be trans…..•I don't know how to be Trans and still manage to find my keys in my purse on the first try.•I don't know how to be Trans and keep a straight face when someone suggests I try "transcendental meditation" to alleviate dysphoria.•I don't know how to be Trans and avoid spending hours in front of the mirror perfecting my "I woke up like this" look. (Answer, it takes a while")•I don't know how to be Trans and resist the urge to respond to "You look so different!" with "Thanks, I just upgraded my human software."•I don't know how to be a trans woman and gracefully navigate a room full of cisgender women without feeling like a total fraud and worry that I will wake up from a dream!•I don't know how to be a trans woman without having the weird moment of "How do i drink this beer less like a man" when in the pub!•I don't know how to be a trans woman and explain to my hairdresser that I have no idea what to do with my hair as I spent many years of it short and boring!•I don't know how to be a trans woman and explain when I am having a really bad tucking moment!•I don't know how to be a trans woman and resist the temptation to respond to "How do you do your makeup so well?" with "Oh, you know, just years of secretly practicing in front of the bathroom mirror harnessing shame and fear"•I don't know how to be a trans woman and avoid the urge to turn every shopping trip into a mission to find the perfect shade of lipstick to match my soul.•I don't know how to be a trans woman and explain to my friends that my wardrobe consists of 90% black ,not because it's an elegant colour for many occasions, but because it's ultra slimming and helps hide my spanx!https://lnkd.in/ewRNGCeA

So, this was released around 2 years ago!! How far have I come?! I wanted to revisit this, as I have grown so much since, yet I am still proud and in awe of the person that put themselves forward in the first place.In the 2 years since this video, The stance on "Trans" people has shifted slightly, politics aside, it does feel more visible and vulnerable in certain respects, but one thing I have continued to be grateful for and championing is the inclusivity and support within the workplace! I wanted to share this as a reminder that Transgender people are simply trying to live a life as authentically and safely as everyone else.#IDontKnowHowToBeTrans #LGBTQ #LifeAtSky

🌈 A Proud PRIDE Month! 🌈In the past few weeks, PRIDE Month ended and it was a total whirlwind!....British LGBT AwardsI had the incredible honor of attending the British LGBT Awards, where Sky was shortlisted as MOST INCLUSIVE EMPLOYER. It was a night of celebration and recognition of all the hard work and dedication to making our workplace inclusive for everyone. I couldn’t help but feel immense pride (pun intended) to be part of an organization that values diversity so highly.I was a total selfie fan girl with some people I adore! The fabulous Katherine Ryan, Rylan, Emma Willis, Russell Tovey and more didn't escape my Phone in hand 📷. If there was an award for selfie-taking, I'd be a shoo-in right?!.Amidst all the celebration, there was a stark reminder of the ongoing battles for Trans Rights, especially poignant during the current political climate. I was fortunate to witness David Tennant's empowering speech—his words resonated deeply, highlighting the challenges we face and the importance of solidarity and action. His speech was a beacon of hope and a call to arms, reminding us that the fight for equality is far from over.Talking! 🤣One of the most empowering experiences was being invited to join the TV team’s Pride Panel at Osterley. Sharing why Pride is so important to me, especially as a trans woman, was both humbling and invigorating. The discussion was vibrant, and it was incredible to see so many engaged and supportive colleagues. Thanks Max Leadbetter and Florence Olden-Chandler for inviting mePride Party!I let my hair down (or up due to the hot weather!) and partied with the Network lovelies at Osterley. I had the delightful task of chaperoning drag queens through the campus, which was as glamorous and fun as it sounds. So much laughter, love, and a shared sense of community. Even meeting Switchboard - National LGBTQ+ Support Line CEO Stephanie Fuller and learning that my activism within the LGBTQ+ Trans community is not going unnoticed was a deeply validating moment. It reinforced the importance of continuing to speak up, advocate, and support our community. Feeling like a proud activist mama! 🌈The grand finale was attending Pride London and having the incredible experience of being on the SKY FLOAT. The energy, the love, and the unity were palpable, also seeing my face from the amazing Sky Creative "WE" campaign on London tube stations and buses? Pinch me, I’m famous! It was surreal and exhilarating to see such visible representation and to be part of a movement that’s making a real difference. Pride Month may be over, but our commitment to support, raise awareness, and educate continues! This month has left me personally exhausted, but in the best way possible. The fight for equality, visibility, and acceptance doesn’t end here.
