Use a pair of scissors to cut through entangled hair around the brushbar and wipe it thoroughly. You can also dust the area that encloses the brushbar too.
Now that it’s spotless, you can slide back the brushbar until it sits fully in place and fasten the endcap using the coin. Turn it clockwise.
Visually Inspect your Dyson’s Battery
A physically damaged battery can be dangerous. It is recommended to keep an eye on the condition of the battery and look for the following visible defects on the Dyson battery.
These can be:
- Bends or cracks
- Puffing or bulging
- Discolored or deformed.

- Unplug the vacuum from the power, if it was charging.
- Empty the trash.
- Remove the bin canister.
- A word of caution, do not press the trigger or power as the motor will start.
- You are now ready to start replacing the battery.

- Remove the 2 screws with the help of the screwdriver. You will find one screw on the handle and the other on the top side of the battery.
- Gently pull out the battery. It may be a little stiff due to dust and usage.
- Check the new battery is identical in size and as per the specifications.
- Slide the new battery into the slot and give it a slow tap so it fits in with a click.
- Fix the 2 new screws on the handle and the one on the top of the battery to secure it.
- Finally, fit the bin canister and close the bin.
Note that since the new battery usually is partially charged, you need to charge it fully for about 3.5 hours before you power or use the vacuum.
Once fully charged you can check it and the red flashing lights issue would have been solved. If the issue persists you need to contact customer support.
Choosing a Replacement Battery for your Dyson
Before you purchase a new battery for your Dyson vacuum cleaner it is advisable to check the specification.
You may refer to the Dyson product manual provided on purchase or check the details printed current battery.
