UPDATED with a Video from Mikey:
Aunt Lou here.
You may or may not know that Cris and I grew up on a cattle farm. I remember that we always had freezer beef. I never thought about it as a child. I never realized how great it was to always have beef (and deer) in our freezer. As an adult, providing meals for my family, I have come to realize how valuable it is to be able to save money in any way possible. Since I grew up on a farm, farmers and their hard work hold a special place in my heart. We just so happen to go to church with a wonderful farmer that raises Angus beef and purchased our first freezer beef. I couldn’t wait to try out this Crock Pot Chuck Wagon Stew from Gooseberry Patch’s Slow Cooker to the Rescue!
Can you open a can? What about chop and onion or slice some sausage? If so, you can absolutely make this stew! If you are looking for a hearty meal to fill you up or warm you up, this Crock Pot Chuck Wagon Stew is your recipe!

What Readers are Saying
Crock Posse Member Shannon M. says: “I made this twice already, after seeing it on the site. My local grocery store didn’t have beans that were labeled as barbecue beans; I used ‘hickory smoke’ beans, came out GREAT!! The 2nd time, in a bit of a pinch, I used the crockpot ground beef that I now keep in my freezer, instead of stew meat. It was PHENOMENAL!! Might get brave & try cut up pork loin next time; we here LOVE us some pork!”

Hi Donna,We do have nutritional information on some recipes, but haven’t had a chance to update all of them yet. However, the calculations are done through an automated program that may use different nutritional content than the specific ingredients you buy at the grocery store. We highly recommend calculating the nutritional information for the specific ingredients you will be using for accurate information.

I know you are in love with “Sir Hamilton” and you recommend it but it is no longer made. I was going to add one to my collection.
