Annie's Crochet Shoulder Bag Free Pattern (2024)

This crochet shoulder bag features the lovely x stitch. Annie’s Bag is a large crochet tote designed to have a sturdy, solid bottom. This free tote bag pattern is both a fun and useful summer crochet project.

The open side details makes for an interesting bag. The x stitch or crossed treble crochet is my favorite part of this crochet shoulder bag. Especially when it’s crocheted in contrasting colors to the bottom and strap.

Crochet this beautiful bag in your favorite cotton yarn. That makes it usable in real life, because then you can wash it. I love that part about cotton yarn, so soft and washable.

I crocheted this shoulder bag crochet pattern in the same cotton yarn I used in the Toddler Sun Hat. It’s Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton yarn. It’s so soft and comes in such a variety of colors. And it’s either on sale or I use my coupon code.

Yarn Substitutions

If you don’t have a Hobby Lobby at hand, you can use almost any worsted weight yarn for this bag pattern.

  • For cotton yarn substitution I recommend Lion Brand’s 24/7 cotton, it’s shiny, strong and has a variety of colors. It’s fabulous for bag patterns!
  • You can also use acrylic yarn for this pattern, Red Heart Super Saver is readily available and comes in all the colors.
