The calendar changes to October as we head into Week 5 of the 2024-25 NFL Season. After two consecutive weeks of multiple Monday Night Football games, the schedule returns to its normal volume of one MNF contest per week. And, it’s an interesting matchup as the New Orleans Saints travel to Arrowhead Stadium to take on the Kansas City Chiefs.
NFL Week 5 also marks the beginning of Bye Weeks. The Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Chargers will be the first teams to get a week off this season.
For the fourth consecutive week, the Thursday Night Football game will feature a divisional matchup. This week, the NFC South will be in the spotlight as the Atlanta Falcons host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Week 5 also provides some exciting big-time matchups as the Baltimore Ravens battle the Cincinnati Bengals, the Buffalo Bills take on the Houston Texans, and the Green Bay Packers face the Los Angeles Rams.

Key NFL Week 5 Games
With Week 5 of the NFL season featuring most of the NFL teams, there are a few key Week 5 games that stand out from the rest:
Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals
This AFC North battle is going to be an exciting one as the Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals look to take an early lead in the division.
These two rivals have played against each other 57 times. Surprisingly, they’ve only met one time in the Playoffs. Could that change this year? The Ravens hold the slight advantage in this head-to-head series with a 30-27 record.
Last year, the Ravens swept the Bengals by winning both matchups. However, they were both close contests decided by one score or less. And, the second game was without Joe Burrow who missed most of the 2023-24 season with an injury. The Bengals are 4-4 in their last eight home games against the Ravens.
Will Baltimore run the winning streak up to three straight or will Burrow and the Bengals get revenge?
Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans
This will probably be the most highly anticipated matchup of the week as the Buffalo Bills travel down to Texas to take on the Houston Texans in a big Week 6 AFC Clash. This game is already being dubbed “The Stefon Diggs” game, as the star wide receiver was traded from the Bills to the Texans in the offseason.
The acquisition of Diggs was hailed as a huge success for the Texans as it gave them another weapon for QB CJ Stroud. It was also hailed as a huge loss for the Bills and a signal that their Super Bowl window has closed.
The Texans own a 6-5 advantage over the Bills in head-to-head action, but they have gone 5-2 in the last seven meetings. Buffalo won their last matchup in 2021, by the score of 40-0. However, that didn’t quite erase the crushing Playoff loss that the Bills experienced in Houston during the 2020 season.
Which team will win the Stefon Diggs Bowl?
Indianapolis Colts vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
This AFC South clash won’t get as much attention as other games in Week 5, but it’s an important one for the division and for each team’s hopes of making the postseason.
Last year, the Jacksonville Jaguars swept the Indianapolis Colts as they won both matchups by an average score of 13.5ppg. In fact, the Jaguars are 4-1 in the last five meetings against Indy. Jacksonville is also 7-0 in their last seven home games against the Colts.
Indy has put together a strong supporting cast for Anthony Richardson. Will it be enough to catapult them back towards the divisional crown? Or will the Jaguars continue their home winning streak against the Colts
Green Bay Packers vs. Los Angeles Rams
This NFC clash is a battle of two teams that made the Playoffs last year, and both hope to duplicate that feat again this year. Since both teams could be fighting for an NFC Wild Card spot, the winner of this game will have a leg-up over the loser.
The Green Bay Packers feature an explosive offense that should be streaking through the NFC Conference over the first month of the season. The Los Angeles Rams also have an impressive offense, but the question marks on defense could become even more evident during the first quarter of the 2024-25 NFL Season.
These two proud franchises have played against each other 99 times. The Packers hold a slight advantage in this series with a 50-47-2 record.
Green Bay has won nine of the last 10 meetings, including four in a row. They’re also 3-1 in their last four road games against the Rams. The team that plays the best defense in this Week 6 matchup should come away with the win. Will it be the Rams or the Packers taking an early lead in the NFC Wild Card race?
Dallas Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers are two iconic franchises with fists full of Super Bowl rings. In fact, these two teams have played against each other three times in the Super Bowl. Dallas has won two of these Championship matchups.
Yet, at this point of the season, both teams could be a few games back in their divisions and desperate for a big Week 6 victory.
The Cowboys hold an advantage in this series with a 17-16 record. They’re also 6-3 in the last nine meetings, which includes going 4-1 in their last five trips to Pittsburgh.
